Game Jam: News Games & News Competence
April 6 @ 17:30 — April 8 @ 20:00Free
A growing number of people receive their information about politics and world affairs completely from social media. Traditional news media are continuously losing their customer base, especially among younger generations. However, there is no editorial team behind Facebook and its competitors guaranteeing journalistic quality and verifiable statements. Developments like fake news and alternative facts are politically charged. At the same time, there is a profound lack of projects and materials that help promote news competence and enable people of all age groups to autonomously evaluate the quality of sources.
The Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur (Digital Game Culture Foundation) invites all interested parties to participate in a 48-hour Game Jam to find creative and engaging solutions for this challenge. Our goal is to develop news games and games with a strong focus on news competence especially for children and young adults.
We are very excited to announce that Prof. Monika Grütters, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, will be the patroness of this Game Jam.
More detailed information about the event will be displayed here later.
This event is sponsored by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The Game Jam is organized in cooperation with Games Academy and Maschinen-Mensch. A Safe Space Policy is in effect for the entire duration and on all event premises. Catering (vegan friendly) will be provided.
