Heart Games – An Evening of Games About Relationships (part of #Instalove)
July 13 — July 15
Update! Heart Games was a big success, so much that we’ve decided to extend Franziska Zeiner’s exhibition on Friday and Saturday as well, the two final nights to catch Catherine Duquette’s #Instalove performance (which we highly recommend watching!). The games will be available to play from 7pm until the end of the evening (around 11pm). The conversation with Elise Terranova won’t be repeated, but it will be made available online in the future on the Life and Dev podcast.
BerlinGameScene.com presents an exhibition of games by Franziska Zeiner, followed by an on-stage conversation with Elise Terranova, as part of Catherine Duquette’s #Instalove performance at the English Theatre Berlin.
Tickets for the event are available at http://www.etberlin.de/production/instalove/. RSVPing on Meetup will not give you access to the event.
Franziska Zeiner is a game designer and print magazine editor, interested in creating meaningful, user-centered experiences. She is passionate about feminism, quirky games, observing mundane everyday interactions and turning them into digital experiences.
The following games will be available to play on Thursday, July 13th:
• social_me – A surreal, socio-political game that mimics players and their social media habits
• Kiss Me Maybe – A competitive kissing game
• Single Player – A speed dating simulator (made with Major Bueno)
The event is part of Catherine Duquette’s #Instalove performance at English Theatre Berlin, which will be running on July 6th – July 15th. #Instalove is a real-time dating performance about (fluid) identity and how relationships shape who we are.
Berlin-based US-American performer, writer, director Catherine Duquette specializes in audience-performer relations and improvisation within scripted drama. She creates intimate participatory works that draw on autobiographical materials to share contemporary experiences with active audiences. Curious about expanding notions of performance, Catherine fuses theater, interactive poetry, scripts, and choice-based narrative for video games. She is currently exploring game design as a dramaturgical approach to theater in order to allow audiences more emotional and personal investment in what happens on stage.
• 19:00 Doors and game exhibition opening (games will be available to play in the lobby all night)
