RAINBOW ARCADE: Screening & Get Together: Gaming in Color
January 17 @ 19:00 — 22:00
Gaming in Color (2015) is a documentary about queer gaming. Parts of the film are shown in the exhibition RAINBOW ARCADE. On this night it will be shown in full length.
Gaming communities are often drawn very one-sidedly – the one-hour documentary “Gaming in Color” shows a different picture: the film accompanies and portrays lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans gamers and takes us along in gaymer culture and at events by and for queer people in the video game industry. “Gaming in Color” was successfully crowdfunded and asked George Skleres, Colleen Macklin, Matt Conn, Naomi Clark, Joe Stern and Jessica Vazquez, among others, about their activism, video game projects and the gaming experiences of LGBTIQ* players. Excerpts from Gaming in Color can be seen in the exhibition – on this evening the film will be shown in full length. There will be popcorn and the opportunity to chat with RAINBOW ARCADE curator Jan Schnorrenberg afterwards in a relaxed atmosphere.
The exhibition is funded by the Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa and under the patronage of Dr. Klaus Lederer, Senator for Culture and Europe of Berlin.
RAINBOW ARCADE is an exhibition project by Schwules Museum, Temple Universityy and Computerspielemuseum (Video Game Museum, Berlin), who support the exhibition as scientific advisors and provide some of the exhibits, research and technical know-how. RAINBOW ARCADE is an official part of gamesweekberlin 2019 (8 – 14 April 2019). Additional partners are Booster Spaceace, Jugend im Museum e.V. and Feminist Frequency.
