Sandbox 02 – Game Governance
26 July 2018 @ 19:00 — 21:00
In the second event of the series, we will discuss ways of modeling systems of governance. We host Mundi Vondi and Gabriel Halfenstein to examine game development strategies and simulation techniques as ways of carving out new possibility spaces. Our speakers are game designers, developers, and researchers who build worlds that nurture our reality and its potential futures. As game worlds are becoming more open, it becomes easier for developers and players to co-design social systems and environments.
Mundi Vondi, the co-founder and CEO of Klang-Games, will speak about the massive multiplayer online (MMO) simulator called Seed. The vastness of its in-game probabilities allows players to collaboratively construct political scenarios. Gabriel Halfenstein is an artist and writer whose work deals with interactions between organisations of neoliberal power and the human body. He will be presenting a project called A History of Trash, a performance about in-game ecologies and the ephemeral aspects of digital production.
