3D Character Animator at Maschinen-Mensch (Remote)

Hello! We’re Maschinen-Mensch, an independent game studio founded in 2014 in Berlin, Germany. We made Curious Expedition 1 & 2.

Do you love creating characters in games? Do you have experience with both the artistic and technical aspects of animating characters in Unreal Engine?

We are looking for a versatile animator that can take responsibility for rigging, animation and implementation of characters and other assets for our next unannounced project.

Your profile:

  • Stylized Key Animation for game characters
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine and game animation implementation
  • Experience in animation: timing, dynamics & body mechanics
  • Rigging and skinning

Bonus:

  • Character modeling (any software)

This role is for an anticipated length of 12 months, with a chance of extending beyond that. We’re ideally looking for someone full-time, but part-time could also work if that suits you best — let’s talk about it.

Working remotely is possible, but we’re looking for someone who’s able to work and be available online during our core hours of operation 10am to 5pm CEST. If you’re based in Berlin (or willing to relocate) that’s definitely a plus, so that we can eventually work together in person once it’s safer to do so again. Our studio is located at Saftladen, an indie game collective and co-working space for game developers that we co-founded in 2015.

We particularly encourage applications from women, people with disabilities, people of colour, and other groups that are underrepresented throughout the game industry.

Earliest start date: February 2022
