Junior Game Programmer & QA at Torpor Games in Berlin

Torpor Games UG is a new indie video game company based in Berlin that focuses on creating thought-provoking entertainment.

Combining a wide variety of disciplines and experience, the team of five are working on their first project, Suzerain. A political drama set in the 1950s, the game allows players to explore what they would do if they had to lead a country in political turmoil? Suzerain demonstrates Torpor’s goal of questioning our reality through the medium of video games.

About you:

  • 1+ years of professional game programming experience
  • Studied game-related field or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum C1 or equivalent English language proficiency
  • Proficiency in C# and Unity
  • Unity UI knowledge
  • Competent in QA testing and bug reporting
  • Knowledge of Git and JSON
  • Experience in working with UI/UX development
  • Teamwork-driven and a passion for gamedev

Plus if you have:

  • 3+ years of professional game programming or equivalent experience
  • Experience in 3D Modelling, animations and texturing
  • Experience with shaders
  • Released commercial game or equivalent experience
  • Previous professional or volunteer QA experience
  • Previous game development projects on Android and iOS
  • Passion for narrative, story-rich and roleplaying games
  • Interest in politics and history or other societal topics
  • Knowledge and previous research about the 30s, 40s, 50s
  • Previous experience with using Articy

About the job

  • As a member of the Torpor team you will be responsible in the adaptation and implementation of UI and UX elements to Android and iOS devices
  • You will be testing game builds on phone and tablet devices and reporting bugs on their bespoke platforms
  • Assisting and being part of a new exciting concept’s prototype development and potentially production phase
  • The full-time position will start with a probation period of 6 months. Extension to a longer-term contract will follow after passing the period successfully
  • This position is remote but if you are in Berlin office meetups will be possible
